Microbial Single Cell Genomics

Decoding Life One Cell at a Time

The Single Cell Genomics Center (SCGC) provides specialized research services using cutting-edge single-cell technologies to unlock the genetic blueprints of individual microbial cells. Our approach enables the study of microorganisms, including those that are rare or cannot be cultivated in the laboratory, offering new insights into microbial diversity, ecosystem function, evolutionary processes, and biotechnological applications.

Our team combines expertise in fluorescence-activated cell sorting, whole genome amplification, sequencing, and de novo assembly to generate high-quality genomic data from single cells.

We also have extensive experience working with challenging materials, including sediments, low-biomass environments, and biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) samples. Each project is customized to deliver reliable results that expand scientific understanding and support innovation across academia, industry, government, and non-profit sectors.

Services Available:

  • Single-cell sorting (phytoplankton, bacteria, viral particle)
  • Single-cell microbial genome sequencing
  • Single-cell microbial respiration rates
