On Friday May 30, Bigelow Laboratory was awarded the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce 2014 Green Award. The award was given for championing steps toward creating a sustainable/resilient local community through positive solutions that may include energy efficiency, renewable energy, local foods development, and innovative modes of transportation. This marked the first time that this award was given. The Flagship Inn and Tugboat Inn were also nominated for the award and recognized for their contributions toward a sustainable community.

The award was presented during the Chamber's annual awards dinner at Fisherman's Wharf Inn & Restaurant in Boothbay Harbor. Darlene Trew Crist and Valerie Young accepted the award on behalf of the Laboratory.
