The Bigelow Laboratory Library is housed in the Administration building on the Bigelow campus. After dispersal of the original collection in the joint Bigelow and Maine Dept. of Marine Resources Library in West Boothbay Harbor in 2017, materials relating to Bigelow research were removed to the East Boothbay facility.

The collection includes books, journals, and annual reviews supporting the ongoing research of Bigelow scientists. Archival materials on the history of oceanography, and historical materials relating to Bigelow research, including reprints and technical reports are also available. A collection of Bigelow’s Annual Reports and internal publications, as well as a section of research publications focusing on issues relating to Maine is available.

Students are encouraged to use the student resources collection, which highlights classic textbooks and materials for introductory research into topics experienced through educational programs with Bigelow scientists.

The Library is open for research purposes during regular work hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Study carrels and a wireless connection are available for study and research. Please return all materials to their original location. Bigelow Library operates on an honor system to be followed by all.
