Wilson elected to Board of Trustees


Bigelow Laboratory Board of Trustees Chairman David Coit announced on Monday May 12 that Linda Wilson was elected to Bigelow Laboratory's Board of Trustees at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board on Friday May 9.

"As the abbreviated biography below indicates, Linda brings a wealth of relevant experience at the highest levels in the academic and research communities to Bigelow. Linda has been a member of the Bigelow Laboratory Advisory Board and the Board's Education Committee, and I am personally very excited that she has agreed to step up to serve on the Board of Trustees, " said Coit.

Linda S. Wilson is president emerita of Radcliffe College, having led the college for a decade. She is a trustee of Tulane University, a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, and a Fellow of the American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS). She served as trustee of Massachusetts General Hospital, and as a member of the boards of directors for AAAS, Michigan Biotechnology Institute, Michigan Materials Processing Institute, Myriad Genetics, Inc., ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), Citizen's Financial Group, Inc., ValueLine, Inc., and Friends of the DaPonte String quartet. Wilson worked for many years at the government-university-industry interfaces, through service on national advisory committees established by the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Department of Energy, as well as the Institute of Medicine, the National Academy of Sciences, National Research Council, and American Council on Education. Wilson previously served as Vice President for Research at University of Michigan, and in similar roles at University of Illinois and Washington University, St. Louis. She received a B.A. from Newcomb College and a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from the University of Wisconsin.
