Research Interests

I am broadly interested in iron biogeochemistry and iron-oxidizing bacteria in marine systems. Specifically, my focus is on the iron cycle in contemporary coastal marine sediments. We are primarily interested on the controls of iron oxidation in marine sediments by macrofauna (e.g., polychaetes) and microorganisms (e.g., iron oxidizers). The combination of field and laboratory measurements and observations will provide a clearer picture of the dominant processes controlling the iron biogeochemical cycle in coastal sediments.
