Interlibrary Loan

Requesting a Book or an Article from Another Library

Interlibrary loan services are available to members of the Bigelow Laboratory and Department of Marine Resources scientific community. Books and articles not found in the Library's collection can be requested from another library by emailing Pamela Shephard, Librarian at library@bigelow.org . We are a member of the OCLC Online Computer Library Center, which provides online access and borrowing privileges to 57,000 library collections in 112 countries. We also have borrowing priviledges with the member libraries in the International Association of Marine Science Libraries and Information Centers (IAMSLIC).

Interlibrary loan requests may take 1-2 weeks depending on the location of the provider. Requests fulfilled by Maine libraries and IAMSLIC are free of charge. Requests provided by all other libraries may cost between $15-$30 per item. Providing all of the information requested speeds delivery. If you need help or have any questions, call Pam Shephard. You will be notified when your item is received.
