Molecular Biology Facility

Bigelow Laboratory's research portfolio places particular emphasis on the use of molecular and post-genomic tools to help understand a wide range of biological and evolutionary processes in the marine environment. Studying the basic building blocks of life (DNA, RNA, and protein) provides unique insight into the organisms that drive global processes within the oceans. Bigelow Laboratory has a core, state-of-the-art molecular biology facility to keep up with the increasing demand for molecular biology use within the Laboratory. A variety of projects cover a diverse range of scientific disciplines and trophic levels (viruses, bacteria, phytoplankton and microzooplankton) and all utilize the Bigelow Molecular Biology Facility.
