- Be a high school senior or college freshman at the time of application;
- Be enrolled in a college/university program for the academic year following the award;
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
- Not already be a KELLER SCHOLAR.
What's the deadline?
We ask that all applications be in our hands by midnight of the second Monday of May, each year.
How do we pick the scholar?
We look first at the academic record: grades of course, also things like academic achievement awards, science fair prizes. We then look for evidence of success at "life". For example: social or economic barriers overcome, community activities engaged in. The kinds of things that tell us "here is a smart and energetic person who has an excellent chance of becoming a valued scientific colleague".
How may the Keller Scholar use the money?
The scholar may spend the funds on any aspect of education. This includes tuition/fees, books, housing, research, equipment, etc. We do not restrict the scholarship to U.S. citizens, or require that the scholar attend a U.S. school.
How do I apply?
You will need three items:- The application form
- Your high school and (if you have any) college academic transcripts
- Two letters of recommendation
You may download the application form (.pdf format 300kb ). If you have software that will let you modify .pdf files, do that and send us the form as an attachment (.pdf format, please). Otherwise, print it out, fill in the information and mail it to us. Or, you may ask us for a paper copy of the form, fill that out and send it to us by mail. If you use electronic options, you will need to send, or arrange to have sent, your transcript information and reference letters separately.
