Welcome to Bigelow Laboratory's Café Scientifique

Part of the international Café Scientifique "movement," Bigelow Laboratory's Café Scientifique program is an ongoing series of public gatherings where anyone can join in a conversation about the latest ideas and issues in ocean science and technology. We are committed to promoting public engagement with science and to making our science accountable. Our science cafés are lively, informal discussions with Bigelow scientists and special guests about current science topics. They are open to everyone; the summer cafés take place in the Opera House in Boothbay Harbor, usually scheduled during the summer months on Tuesdays, from 6 to 7 p.m. Additional cafés are held from time to time at the Laboratory's Ocean Science and Education Campus in East Boothbay, as well as other venues in mid-coast Maine.

There are over 150 science cafés organized over 42 countries. All Café Scientifique events are open to the public free of charge. Beer, wine, and sodas are available for purchase. For more information, contact  or call (202) 747-3255, ext. 104.
